Sunday re-cap

So I obviously haven't posted in a while but thought I'd try to every now and then. This weekend was a busy one, especially since Brian was out of town in College Station for the Harris County Field Day (fire training) up at TEEX. During the school year, so much of our weekend time is spent at birthday parties, so this weekend was no different. It's fun to catch up with the other parents at them though and it wears the kiddos out, so it's good overall.

This coming week will be spent looking for jobs, spending time with good friends, and enjoying my new (used) Tahoe. :) Something about sitting up higher than most other cars and knowing I can easily fit a couple extra bodies in my car (even with the car seats in!) is so nice. Thanks to my honey for letting me get it- now I have the typical Texas mom mobile. Oh and by the way, Caitlin decided we needed to name our new car (dunno why, it's not like we've ever named the other cars we've had) so she decided upon Sparkles, because it sparkles of course. We'll see how long it sparkles, Lord knows I don't keep my cars very clean these days.

Sorry, a boring post but starting to get a headache, despite the fact that lil Luke was tuckered out and went to bed at 5:00 today (gotta love no nap days).

A lot's happened in the last few days.

Over the weekend, we were very blessed to celebrate Luke's baptism with about 50 of our family and close friends. I couldn't change a thing to make it nicer. Luke didn't cry a lick and was happy and smiling the entire time. Luke's blessed to have wonderful godparents...Godfather John Black (my brother) and Godmother Jessica Lester (Brian's sister). I just know they will help lead Luke through a happy and Christian based life.

Also over the weekend, Brian left for his first project. He's not actually offshore for this one. He's down in Port Aransas, Texas (down near Corpus Christi) and should be for 2 or 3 weeks. I'm planning on driving down this weekend with the kids to see Daddy and to visit Aunt Jessica, Uncle Travis and Hailey (their dog) who all live in Corpus Christi.

Today we're planning on going to the library and up to church to help work on the decorations for VBS next week. Fun, fun. Oh how I love the lazy days of summer.

Today's update on everyone:

Caitlin- got her nails painted purple

Luke- not so happy he's out of his milkshake

Brian- work's done for the day already; gets to just hang out in the hotel with the other guys

First post!

So this is my first post in the blogging world. I figured I'd give the blogging a try as a source of communication with the outside world while I'm home with the kiddos and as a way to chronicle the wonderful craziness that is life in the Richards family.

I'm so excited--Summer is definitely here! Hot sunny days followed by warm summer nights. Can't really be beat. I have lots of ideas for what I'd like to accomplish this summer. I'll go ahead and list them so later I can reflect and see how much I actually got done.

  • go swimming--lots

  • trip(s) to the beach

  • a tan!

  • lose some weight

  • find cute hairstyle & get highlights

  • buy new clothes (burn/donate old clothes!)

  • work with Caitlin on reading/writing

  • throw out or donate old junk that doesn't work and/or isn't used

Pretty much to sum it up: get organized & create a positive and calming envirnoment. Be happy with my appearance.

I think I'll do an update on everyone at the end of each post.

Caitlin- already showing signs of boredom; LOVES gymnastics & ballet/tap

Luke- still a great sleeper & eater; busy trying new foods & learning how to crawl instead of roll to get where he wants to go; will be baptized on Sunday (6/15)!!

Brian- preparing to leave on his first project..to Port Aransas, TX (down near Corpus Christi). Will be gone 2-3 weeks. Leaves Sunday, 6/15 after the baptism

Linda- trying to finalize all preparations for baptism; staying busy at home by washing clothes & dishes; just finished another book (Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella--great summer read by the way!); wants to go shopping for cute clothes that actually fit..we'll see if this happens anytime soon though
